Notre Belle Cabane
Welcome to La Belle Cabane, where our story is woven with the threads of resilience, creativity, and a deep connection to both nature and our Indigenous roots.
Our journey began with a dream of moving to New Brunswick in 2019, but life had other plans as I, Tasha, navigated the challenges of postpartum anxiety, a new autoimmune condition, and the unexpected twists that the pandemic brought. Cory was all of a sudden working overtime and our family unit was feeling a little disconnected. It was in the midst of these challenges that we made a pivotal decision—to leave our jobs, sell our house, and embark on a journey to create a more connected and intentional life for our family. We bought one little cabin "la belle cabane" and initially wanted to place it in our backyard...just for us. After finding our haven in Kingston, NB, we found the inspiration to build La Belle Cabane - a vision encompassing five cabins on 40 acres, inviting others to discover their own "cabane" and focus on healing to #findfreedomintheforest. The business is run by Cory, a former Plant Manager, and I, Tasha, the previous Coordinator of the Biidaaban Doula Collective. We are both from small towns and share a combined dream of continuing to live in a rural area surrounded by nature. Our diverse backgrounds and life experiences have shaped La Belle Cabane into a unique space for healing and self-discovery.
In response to challenges to our cultural identity, we want to emphasize our authenticity as Indigenous individuals. We are proud Citizens of the Métis Nation of Ontario and identify as Aanishnaabe due to our families history and lineage. Our blended family lines are Belcourt and Roi dating to Hirondelle and Brissette. We embrace all that we are including our connection to the land with gratitude. As a business, we are Rainbow Registered, affirming our commitment to being a 2SLGBTQI+ friendly space and are certified through the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business.
La Belle Cabane is more than a business. We build authentic healing spaces that have a mission to empower individuals to reconnect with nature, heal their minds and bodies, and embrace the transformative power of self-love. As we invite you to find freedom in the forest and embark on a journey of self-discovery, wellness, and rejuvenation, we share our mission: "noojimo" or to heal. Our vision is to be a sanctuary where individuals can escape the demands of modern life, rediscover their connection to the natural world, and experience lasting transformations.
